ABOUT ME

A LITTLE ABOUT ME!

I have lived in The Rogue Valley for the last ten years and am excited to join Hedrick Muddle School this year.

I was born and raised in South Africa, and was able to complete my first teaching credentials at the University of Cape Town. After that I spent several years traveling around the world exploring some of the most historical sites and was often able to submerse myself in the local cultures, by living with local families and often taking on contract jobs.

I came to America over 20 years ago, and have lived in Miami and Los Angeles, before moving to Southern Oregon.
After having met my wife in Miami, we moved together to Los Angeles where we got married.  It was in Los Angeles that I returned to teaching, and worked at an inner-city middle school teaching 7th Grade Social Studies. I also completed my administration credential, and spent time as an academic coach working for Los Angles School District.
During this time both of my two sons were born, which is what eventually prompted our move to the Rogue Valley.

Since moving here I have chosen to substitute teach for the school district, and have really enjoyed working in the upper grades of the districts elementary schools. However, I am very excited for the change this year to go back to having my own full time class at Hedrick.

I have really enjoyed living in Southern Oregon. During the winter our family are avid snowboarders and skiers (I'm a snowboarder), during the fall we love to be outside hiking and biking with our dog Koda, who is a rottweiler. Summer time for us involves lots of water activities, including paddle-boarding, surfing, kayaking and fishing.
